Forest Lake’s Dan Reinke reached Virginia Beach, Va. on Aug. 11, marking the completion of his goal to walk across America. He left Seaside Ore. May 5 on a journey that took him 2,514 miles from coast to coast over 99 days.

Upon completion, Reinke looked forward to seeing his niece and nephew and enjoying a hot shower and comfortable bed. Reinke’s inspiration for the walk was faith-based and he said his faith was strengthened.
“The more throughout the trip I left up to God, the more that was provided to me, whether it was a place to stay or a shower, ” he said. “It feels great to be done. You are a step closer to God but there’s still so much work to be done.”
