Extreme heat couldn’t keep the Forest Lake girls soccer team from racking up its fourth win and third-consecutive shutout over Cambridge-Isanti last Tuesday.
The Rangers won 3-0 and were led by senior Lara Steinhoff on offense with two goals in the first half, assisted by sophomore Kassity Swanson and junior Jacqueline Pothen.
Senior Emily Paulson sealed the victory in the second half with a goal assisted by Steinhoff.
Co-head coach Rich Elliot said the Rangers played well as a team.
“They certainly played well in adverse conditions of such extreme heat and are coming together as a team very nicely — fun group to watch,” Elliot said.
Forest Lake faced section foe St. Francis on Tuesday, then Coon Rapids on Wednesday.
The Rangers next host Woodbury at 7 p.m. today, Sept. 5. The Royals finished last season at 5-1-3 in the Suburban East Conference and are currently 1-2 overall with losses to Burnsville and Eden Prairie.
