FL motorcyclist dies in crash

A 40-year-old man with Forest Lake ties died Friday, Sept. 6 when his motorcycle collided with a vehicle in Oak Grove.

Leander Barfield was driving eastbound on Viking Boulevard around 5 p.m. when he crashed into the back of a vehicle that was waiting to turn left on University Avenue, according to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office. Barfield’s last known address is in Anoka, but the sheriff’s office believes he is from Forest Lake and has been residing there.

Attempts to resuscitate him failed. Neither the driver nor the passenger in the other vehicle sustained injuries. There is no indication that alcohol or controlled substances played a role in the accident, a release from the sheriff’s office said.
