Running Aces will kick off its sixth season of “Laugh Your Ace Off” with a comedy show starring comedian Craig Allen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27.
Allen is a veteran stand-up comedian who has appeared on NBC TV and XM Satellite Radio.
On “The Bob and Tom Show,” he was originally slated for a short 15-minute segment, but the hosts liked him so much that they kept him on for nearly two hours.
Allen’s comedy has been described as “bizarre, yet intelligent.” He started his career writing material for other comedians, and his jokes have appeared in Playboy, The London Times, The Washington Post, The New York Post, the tabloid Star, and ABC ‘s “The View.” He also wrote for television’s Peabody Award-nominated PBS television series “Mental Engineering.”
Fellow comedian Wild Bill Bauer said, “Craig is one of the top five comedic writers I know. The other four are already stars.”
Allen calls Minnesota home but performs across the country at comedy clubs, colleges, casinos, country clubs, and corporate events.
The feature performer will be Sherlonda Sharp. Originally from North Carolina, where she won Carolina’s Best Comic award, Sharp now lives in Minneapolis, performing at comedy clubs, colleges, corporate events, and Elk and Moose lodges.
Show host John Russell was a finalist in the Iowa Comedy Festival and now also lives in Minneapolis.
Tickets are $15 plus taxes and fees. They can be purchased at www.runningacesharness.com. Optional dinner reservations can be made before or after the show.
