The 2013-2014 season of the North Suburban Concert Band is now in full swing.
Established in 1981, the community band lets musicians who played in high school or college enjoy performing concert band music as adults. Each year the band performs four concerts—Halloween, Christmas, cathedral and pops—plus a summer outdoor concert series.
Although auditions are not required, musicians must be committed to regular practice and to providing excellent musicianship. Band members attend two-hour rehearsals on Mondays, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Coon Rapids Middle School.
Last season’s group featured approximately 75 musicians representing communities in the northern suburbs and metro area.
John Rosner, Elk River High School band director, has conducted the group for eight years. “There is tremendous talent in this non-audition band, and I look forward to providing a challenging and rewarding year of music,” Rosner said. “NSCB is a fun group of people who really enjoy making music together.”
The band welcomes new members for the 2013-2014 season and especially needs trumpets and percussion. To join, come to rehearsal on Monday night. For more information, visit www.nscband.com or call or e-mail Eric Hagen, firstname.lastname@example.org.
