Technically, Sunday marked the first day of fall, but Saturday’s Columbus Fall Fest was enjoyed just the same. Above: Young Linwood resident Emma Phillips found the face-painting booth before selling varieties of apples from trees in her grandparents’ yard.

Below: Males of all ages found fun in the Xccent Play “X-Wave” playground attraction at Columbus City Park. In back, Gavin Carey, of St. Francis, controls the equipment’s motion while three other users, including older male Scott Erickson, of Forest Lake, rides the waves.
