Women of all ages are invited to spend the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Fairview Lakes Medical Center, 5200 Fairview Blvd. in Wyoming. Ladies Night Out will offer free health talks, free health screenings, refreshments, gifts and door prizes.
The event officially begins at 5:30 p.m. and lasts until 8:30 p.m., but walk-in mammograms and free skin cancer screening will begin an hour earlier at 4:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary for mammograms, but regular fees will apply and space is limited.
Three 30-minute talks will highlight the evening.
At 6 p.m., OB/Gyn specialist Julie Becker and physical therapist Tia Pederson will present “Squeeze before you sneeze?” on options for bladder control.
At 7 p.m., family medicine physician Paula Rehder will speak on “Mindful eating.”
Breast cancer survivor and comedian Priscilla Mitchell completes the line-up at 8 p.m. with “Life and Laughter after Cancer.” Once a protégé of Louis Anderson, Priscilla lives in Rush City, where each year she hosts a comedy night to benefit women with cancer.
Guests can come for just the speeches or choose from many other activities.
Wear comfortable shoes and clothing to join in yoga, Pilates, and cardio dance demonstrations in Fairview’s new ortho center, presented by staff from the Lino Lakes YMCA. Or try out the exercise circuit in the cardiac rehab gym.
Free health screenings will include skin cancer, sleep apnea, heart age, blood pressure, blood glucose, BMI, foot conditions (bunions and hammertoes), lung capacity, vision, hearing, and leg circulation.
Talk to the experts about gastroesophageal reflux disease, bladder control and sleep problems, cosmetic surgery, breast health, colon cancer, and hearing care.
Learn hands-only CPR from Lakes Region EMS, and follow it up with a free hand massage.
For a flu shot, bring your insurance card or pay $20 cash.
Snacks, refreshments and food samples will be provided by Joia Soda and Makers Healthy Market. Freekah Foods will be serving Fueled by Freekah energy balls.
The pharmacy and gift shop will offer 20 percent discounts all evening.
If you or someone you know has cancer, stop by the Lakes Cancer Clinic for a “Look Good, Feel Better” demonstration and free wig styling for women undergoing cancer treatment.
