Small business lobbyist to speak
Mike Hickey, state director of the National Federation of Independent Business, will speak at the Lakes Area Business Association meeting at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Vannelli’s by the Lake, 55 S. Lake St. Hickey, who lobbies for small businesses and their owners, will give an update on business legislation at the state capital. Non-members welcome. Free, or $10 for lunch. Teen lock-in for junior high students
School District 831 Community Education and the Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau will host a lock-in for students in grades 7 to 9 from 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17. to 5:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18 at Lake 5 Movie Theatre, Southwest Junior High Pool and Stars & Strikes Entertainment Center. $55 includes transportation, activities and snacks; bring swimsuit, towel, and cash for games.
