Rangers finish in top half of section

The Forest Lake girls soccer team held Stillwater to a scoreless tie during last Tuesday’s home game, but fell by one to East Ridge two days later.

The Rangers finished the regular season with an overall record of 8-7-1, an improvement over last season’s record of 5-11-1, and ended in eighth place of 10 in the Suburban East Conference standings. Mounds View was the outright undefeated SEC champion with a conference record of 9-0 and overall record of 15-0.

The Rangers went 2-1 in section play with wins over Cambridge-Isanti and St. Francis, falling only to Coon Rapids. The Cardinals sit in first with a section record of 4-1 and overall record of 10-5-1.

Though section standings are not yet determined, Forest Lake sits in second this season as opposed to the No. 6 seed last fall, earning the Rangers a home game for the Section 7AA preliminaries. Forest Lake’s first game will be at home at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10.
