Motorists will experience intermittent lane and shoulder closures on both directions of Interstate 35 between Forest Lake and Harris as crews install cable median barriers. Sections of southbound and northbound I-35 between Highway 8 and County Road 10 have been reduced to a single lane since Oct. 7. The northbound lanes will re-open weekdays by 3 p.m. and southbound lanes will re-open by 7 p.m. Motorists should prepare to slow down in work zone areas.
Crews expect to complete the work on this 22-mile section of I-35 by mid-December, weather permitting. Some minor clean-up work is anticipated in the spring 2014.
Cable median barrier prevents vehicles from crossing medians into oncoming traffic. Installing it in strategic locations helps prevent fatal and serious injury crashes.
