Trail extension purchased

The Washington County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 8 authorized the acquisition of a portion of the BNSF railroad corridor to extend the Hardwood Creek Trail. In 2009, Washington County requested the abandonment of a portion of the BNSF railroad between 145th and 140th streets in Hugo. This section of the railroad corridor will connect to the existing Hardwood Creek Trail and is in the comprehensive regional trail plan for this area. Construction of the trail is in the county’s 2014 capital improvement plan.
