Rangers fall 36-6 to Park

The Forest Lake football team closed it regular season with a tough loss at home, falling 36-6 to Park.

The Wolfpack, from Cottage Grove, came into last Wednesday’s matchup at 2-5 with wins over White Bear Lake and Woodbury, while the Rangers entered at 0-7.

Park came out strong by scoring 15 points in the first quarter, followed by 14 in second quarter and seven more in the third. Forest Lake would not answer until junior Brandon Rogers rushed for six points to put his team on the board.

Sophomore John Eiden led the Ranger squad with 52 yards on 10 carries, while sophomore Nic Norem had 49 yards on five carries. Senior Leighton Bierman followed with 44 yards on 11 carries, and Rogers added 21 yards on 12 carries and one touchdown.

Rogers also went 8-13 passing with 62 yards. Senior Mike Aho led the Rangers in receptions with six for 50 yards. Aho added 101 returning yards, 78 off of four kick returns and 23 yards off one punt.

On defense, senior Zack Rosenthal and Brent Kinder each recorded one sack.

Overall, the Rangers earned 166 rushing yards and 62 passing yards, compared to Park’s 411 passing yards, four for touchdowns, and 123 rushing yards.

Forest Lake will be the eighth seed in Section 4AAAAAA and faces top-seeded East Ridge at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25. The Raptors defeated Forest Lake in early October, 42-0, and come into the matchup at 7-1 with their only loss coming from Cretin-Derham Hall.
