Michael R. Waltz, age 67 of Forest Lake.
“Mike” “ Mick” “Dad” “Bapa” “B.D.”
On Oct. 26, 2013, the world lost a precious loving man, who was a great teaser, a jokester, a magic fireworks man, and very generous. Mick fought the fight long and hard, with dignity and grace. He overcame every obstacle thrown his way after having a lung transplant in October of 2007. Mike was surrounded by his loving family at the U of M Hospital, fulfilling his last wishes and went comfortably and peacefully.
Preceded in death by parents, Bob (Frederick) and Betty L. (Erickson) Waltz; and his daughter, Kari Lee Waltz.
Survived by his soul mate of 48 years, Carol; daughter, Kim (Jeff) Salo; grandchildren, Jessica (Jonnie) Pangerl, Nicholas (Taylor) Salo, Jeremy Salo, Kassie Salo, Jaime (Blake) Salo, and Megan Gillette; great grandson, Dash Salo; great-granddaughter, Aria Salo; brother, Tim (Tina) Waltz; many special nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Being quite the entrepreneur, he owned his own businesses most of his adult life; beginning with Mike’s Food Shoppe (known as Mike the Milkman in Minneapolis and suburbs), original owner and founder of “Mike’s Bait on 8” in 1983 and in 1988, and began “County Line Liquor”, both in Forest Lake. There was never anything more important to him than his family. He burst with pride knowing they all loved to hunt and fish almost as much as he did. He’ll be looking for the best lakes and hunting grounds Heaven has to offer because the good Lord saw to it that we had it on earth.
