Times awarded in ECM contest

The Forest Lake Times earned several awards at the ECM Publishers Better Newspaper Contest during the company’s annual banquet Nov. 18 in Coon Rapids. Judging was performed by St. Cloud State University faculty and journalism professionals.

The Times took first place in the editorial page category and tied for second place in general reporting. The 2013 Progress Edition took top honors in the special section category. Individually, editor Clint Riese’s coverage of the Forest Lake City Center earned first place in the category for in-depth reporting. He earned second place for coverage of a meeting. Staff writer Cliff Buchan was an honorable mention selection in the human interest feature category, as was sports editor Kat Ladwig in the sports photo category.
