FLPD, Walmart, Subway brighten kids’ holiday

On Sunday, the Forest Lake Police Department held its second-annual “Shop with a Cop” event at Walmart. Seven FLPD officers took 10 local children shopping for Christmas gifts for their families. Each shopper was given $100 of the $1,000 that was donated through the Forest Lake Walmart’s local giving program. The police department requested nominations from local elementary schools and community partners. Subway donated lunch to the shoppers and officers before they hit the aisles. Participants wrapped the gifts with the assistance of staff from the Birchwood Health Care Community in Forest Lake. The officers and Birchwood staff volunteered their time.
