Daniel A. Bever, 81, Marine on St. Croix, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013.
Dan graduated from Forest Lake High School, the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul and received advanced degrees from the University of Minnesota and Mankato State University, with majors in social science, education and high school administration. He taught and coached at Medford (Minnesota) Public Schools; he was all-school principal at Morton (Minnesota) Public Schools, and concluded his teaching career in St. Paul at Wilson and Harding high schools.
Dan was resolute in his spiritual faith, an avid outdoorsman, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Whalen Bever; sons, John (Sharon), Tom (Cherre); grandchildren, Jamie and Jake; sister, Mary Rogers; six nephews, two nieces, in-laws and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Alfred.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 10 at St. Genevieve Parish Community Center, 6995 Centerville Road, Centerville. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Interment will take place in the spring.
