Forsell earns Eagle Scout award

Jack Forsell of Forest Lake has earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the Eagle Scout Award.

Forsell was recognized at a Court of Honor ceremony on Sunday, Jan. 5 at Elim Lutheran Church in Scandia. A member of Scandia Troop 9173, Forsell is one of approximately 4 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank.

Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community service project to earn his Eagle.

Forsell chose to build portable, collapsible bike racks for the community of Scandia and the Scandia Lions. They will be used primarily for an upcoming triathlon and other community-sponsored cycling events.

A senior at Forest Lake High School, Forsell is active on the varsity lacrosse team. He is also a member of the Order of The Arrow national honor society of the Boy Scouts of America.

ForsellĀ  is the son of Jim and Becky Forsell of Forest Lake. He is the grandson of John and Linda Venables of Forest Lake and Butch and Diane Forsell of Duluth.
