Sixth District field thins

One Republican fewer is running for Congress in the 6th Congressional District. Sen. John Pederson, of St. Cloud, has dropped out of the scramble to replace Congresswoman Michele Bachmann.

In a statement, Pederson said he could not balance the priorities in his life and continue as a candidate. Pederson described his withdrawal as a personal choice, not reflective of support for his campaign.

Former Rep. Tom Emmer of Delano, Anoka County Board Chair Rhonda Sivarajah and former Rep. Phil Krinkie of Shoreview, round out the Republicans in the race.
