Ski by the light of the moon 

Enjoy the beautiful ski trails under a full moon from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18 at the campground visitor center of Bunker Hills Regional Park. White-Nose Syndrome in bats

Gerda Nordquist of the Minnesota DNR will give a free presentation on White-Nose Syndrome in bats at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the St. Croix River Association office, 230 South Washington Street (next to the library). This disease has killed 6 million bats in eastern North America and is severely affecting bat populations along the St. Croix River. Reservations are encouraged but not required. Cross-country ski race at William O’Brien

The 43rd annual Marine/O’Brien Nordic ski race will be held from 9 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26 at William O’Brien State Park, 16821 O’Brien Trail. For adults, registration starts at 9 a.m. and races at 10:30 a.m. For children, registration starts at 11 a.m. and races at 1 p.m. A tour on wooded skis starts the event. All abilities welcome. Race day registration is $40 for adults, $17 for high school and college ages, $12 for children, $25 for wood ski tour. Save money by registering early at Vehicles must have a state park permit, and a Minnesota Ski Pass is required for participants over age 16.
