The Forest Lake Alpine team traveled to Afton Alps for a Suburban East Conference race last Tuesday.
The boys placed second of 10 teams with 634 points, falling only to Stillwater, which had 713 points.
Junior Riley Schilling placed second in a field of 92, coming in just 2.34 seconds behind the first-place skier from Cretin-Derham Hall.
Senior Jacob Bush placed 11th on the day, followed by sophomore Marty Longsdorf in 20th and junior Chris Wallner in 22nd. Sophomores Joe Alberg (27th), Max Stangler (29th) and Nate Patterson (30th) and ninth-grader Zach Ochsenbauer (33rd) followed close behind.
The Rangers have placed in the top three in all of their conference races this season.
On the girls side, Forest Lake placed fifth of 10 teams with 541 points.
The Rangers just missed a fourth-place finish by four points. Stillwater, Mounds View, Hastings and East Ridge claimed the top spots at Afton Alps.
Ninth-grader Elli Rodsjo took 13th on the day, followed by senior Maddi Gemuenden in 22nd. Ninth-grader Sydney Norcross was just behind in 23rd while senior Sydney Halley placed 29th.
Rounding out the scoring for Forest Lake was sophomore Maggie Longsdorf (39th), junior Sam Kramer (42nd) and sophomore Maddi Broom (47th).
