Forest Lake Activities Director Joel Olson gathered high school coaches last week to announce his resignation, which will go before the Forest Lake School Board at its meeting on Thursday, Feb. 6.

Olson will fulfill his duties through the end of the school year.

Olson said he chose to announce his resignation now in order seek another position and to give the his current employer ample time to find and train his successor.

“This is an opportunity for me to look for other administrative positions, whether that’s assistant principal or principal jobs, in other districts,” Olson said. “This is my time to pursue other opportunities and challenges, but if there is another AD position open, I may not rule it out because I do love it.”

The longtime activities director began in ISD 831 in 2002. Olson’s salary for the 2013-14 school year is $101,983.
