A chance to see top teen musicians
The 27th annual Suburban East Conference Music Festival will be held at Forest Lake High School all day Monday, Feb. 3.
During the day, top bands, choirs and orchestras from Hastings, Roseville, White Bear Lake, Park, Forest Lake, Mounds View, Stillwater, East Ridge, Woodbury and Cretin-Derham Hall high schools will perform 15-minute programs for their peers and a clinician.
The public is welcome to attend these performances. The Forest Lake Cantorei (choir) will perform at 9 a.m. in the auditorium, the Sinfonia Orchestra at 10:45 a.m. in the field house, and the Symphonic Winds at 2:15 p.m. in the main gym.
In the evening, students selected earlier this year for All-Conference Ensembles will present a grand finale concert at 7:15 p.m. in the gymnasium. Tickets will be sold at the door, $6 for adults and $4 for students and seniors.
“Once you attend one of these concerts, you will mark your calendar for the next year,” said District 831 school board member Karen Morehead. “You will be blown away by the talent of these young people.”
Each year the event is held at a different school. This year, with Forest Lake hosting, presents an opportunity to attend without a long drive. “Don’t miss this opportunity,” Morehead urged. “You won’t be disappointed!”
