Interim Use Permit
Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held by the Columbus Planning Commission on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as parties may be heard, in the City Hall located at 16319 Kettle River Blvd., Columbus, Minnesota, to review an interim use permit request by the applicant to consider issuing an Interim Use Permit (IUP) to Forest Lake Contracting for continued mining at (legal description below), currently permitted to the heirs of Leroy Haluptzok, d.b.a Johns Black Dirt. Issuance of an IUP will be consistent with the requirements of Chapter 9 Excavation, Mining, and Filling of the Columbus City Code and consistent with the requirements of Chapter 7 Zoning Regulations of the Columbus City Code. The purpose of the IUP is to replace the Conditional Use Permit previously issued to Leroy Haluptzok, establish requirements for wetland mitigation, and establish an end date for mining. The subsequent use of the property will be residential. The hearing shall continue until all evidence and testimony has been received.
