Gunman took cash, narcotics Friday evening
An armed robber made off with cash and narcotics Friday evening after holding up Thrifty White Pharmacy in Forest Lake. A white male showed a handgun in the robbery, then fled on foot from the store at 808 Lake St. S.
Forest Lake police took the call at 7:10 p.m. The suspect was described as wearing a white and green jacket. He also wore a hood and a face mask.
The incident is under investigation.
The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office responded to an armed robbery that took place around 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 20 at Tim’s Country Cupboard in Stacy.
An employee said a male produced a silver revolver with a wooden handle and ordered him to empty the till of all its money. The suspect then fled on a snowmobile.
A search was conducted but the tracks were lost.
Through investigation, Chisago County deputies obtained a search warrant for a house in Anoka County which they believed to be the location of the suspect. The Anoka County SWAT team secured the residence and three occupants were detained.
Located at the residence were stolen snowmobiles, a stolen trailer, and items seized in connection to the robbery. No arrests were made at the time. The investigation remained ongoing.
The southbound lanes of Interstate 35 closed for an hour on Thursday, Jan. 30, following a multi-vehicle collision and spin-out.
Three people sustained minor injuries in the incident, which took place at 8:43 a.m at the base of the freeway entrance ramp from Highway 8. At least a dozen vehicles were involved. No one was seriously hurt. The State Patrol closed the freeway at the Wyoming exit until the interstate was cleared. The Forest Lake Police Department and the sheriff’s offices from Washington and Chisago counties assisted the State Patrol.
