Richard Thompson

Richard E. Thompson, 72, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 4, from heart complications.
Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 8, at Chisago Lakes Baptist Church, Chisago City. Interment with military honors was at Chisago Memorial Park, Chisago City.
Richard was born July 8, 1941 and was raised in Minneapolis. In 1965, he bought a farm and moved to Chisago City. He married Caroline on Sept. 6, 1969. His over-40-year career with the Milwaukee Road and later the Canadian Pacific Railroads was just one piece of his lifelong passion of all things railroad. He will be remembered by many as a local historian, author, owner of Iron Horse Central Railroad Museum, Vietnam veteran, family man, and believer in Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline; children, Melissa and Erik; brother, Kenneth.
He was preceded in death by his father, Newton; mother, Doris; twin brother, Robert; son, Karl.
