Columbus officials hold workshop with FL Contracting; vote pushed to April

City officials once again have delayed their review of a new interim use permit for Forest Lake Contracting at the John’s Black Dirt site, west of Kettle River Boulevard and north of 181st Avenue N.E.

After a previous permit expired in December, the applicant would like to continue digging and hauling sand from the site, up to an estimated available 340,000 cubic yards for its projects.

City Council members planned for a review in late February, but the applicant asked for more time into March. The city prepared for a visit from the applicant at a meeting March 19, but Forest Lake Contracting sent a letter March 14 with a request to meet with city officials for a workshop before the council might vote in April.

Council agreed March 19 to open its regular meeting on Wednesday, March 26, with that workshop.
