Eighth-grade students from Century Junior High in Forest Lake have been learning about other people through their food.

After-school field trips have taken global studies students to German, Middle Eastern, and Indian restaurants.

As many as 42 students in one afternoon attended dinner, enjoying each other’s company and gaining an appreciation for other cultures.

The events are organized by social studies teachers Lori Worrall and Brian Rigwald, who plan the activities, recruit volunteer chaperones, introduce the foods and offer etiquette suggestions.
