A Forest Lake man faces a felony charge of theft and has been accused of intentionally writing a bad check.

Kevin Ray Tacheny, 48, appeared in Washington County District Court April 17.

According to the criminal complaint, the owner of a petroleum company in Michigan paid Tacheny $12,000 to purchase several gas pumps in March 2013. The customer learned Tacheny never had the pumps, the complaint continues, and Tacheny wrote four checks to refund the money, but his account did not have sufficient funds when the customer attempted to deposit the checks.

Tacheny is due back in court May 21.
