In 2013 the Scandia-Marine Lions became the organization’s largest club in the state, with 144 members. Of these, 46 are women. President Tom Triplett said this is by far the largest number of women members of any Minnesota club.

With so many members, the Lions lead or support more than 40 activities each year. From July 2012 through June 2013, the Scandia-Marine Lions contributed $57,500 to 50 area nonprofits, schools and parks, and to six needy families.

This fiscal year the group is on track to contribute $75,000, Triplett said.
