The Forest Lake tennis team closed its season in the second round of section play this week. The Rangers, seeded fourth, hosted fifth-seeded Grand Rapids last Tuesday and won 5-2. Junior Toby Boyer and senior Ben Nielsen recorded wins at singles while the Rangers swept the doubles bracket for the win. Forest Lake then faced a loaded Elk River squad on Monday in Princeton, where they fell 6-1. Boyer and sophomore Ross Schultz recorded the lone point for the Rangers at No. 1 doubles, 6-4. 6-1. In individual play, Boyer defended his section title on Tuesday with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Josh Gearou of Elk River. For a full season recap, check out next week’s edition of the Forest Lake Times.
