Vennelag 1-546 of Sons of Norway will celebrate Sankt Hans Dag (St. John’s Day), also called Midsommernatt (Midsummer’s Eve) on Tuesday, June 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the Lindstrom Community Center, 13292 Sylvan Avenue.
In Norway this day is a national celebration, with bonfires and all-night parties.
Hot dogs, buns, and beverages will be furnished. Guests are asked to bring a dish such as baked beans, salads, chips, dessert or condiments. Hosts for the evening are Sheila and Arlen Strehlo and Roger Machmeier.
After an explanation of the meaning of Midsommernatt in Norway, there will be a bingo game with Norwegian effects.
Vennelag members are asked to invite a friend, and guests are always welcome at Vennelag events.
In case you’re wondering whether you should come, host Roger Machmeier advises, “Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way.”
