The Forest Lake Brewers continued their winning ways last week with two wins at home.
The Brewers faced Anoka last Tuesday and beat the Bucs, 5-3, with Mike Swenson recording the win on the mound. Swenson went seven innings, giving up six hits and striking out three batters.
Kyle Young led Forest Lake on offense by going 3-4 with two RBIs and one double. Adam Gemuenden went 2-4 with two RBIs and a home run, while Brent Kolbow also added two hits in four at bats.
Jack Schmidt recorded the save with two innings to close the home game.
Forest Lake hosted the Wisconsin Spooners last Friday, when 10 of 14 batters in the home team’s lineup earned a hit.
Bub Lovas spent five innings on the mound, giving up five hits and just one earned run before Ryan Anderson took over in the sixth inning and recorded two strikeouts in two innings.
The Brewers remain undefeated in the Metro Minny League at 6-0 and are 8-1 overall. The loss came to the Minneapolis Cobras May 18.
Forest Lake hosted the Ramsey Renegades on Tuesday and heads to Austin, for the SPAMtown Challenge June 27-28. The Brewers face the Chaska Cubs at 8 p.m. Friday, then play Sparta, Wisconsin, at 10 a.m. Saturday, before competing against the Rochester Royals at 2:30 p.m. that afternoon.
