A new summer camp experience is coming to Forest Lake.
Four days of the first week of August, Willowbrook Community Church will present Center Stage camp.
Students in grades three through eight will have opportunities to create music and art at half-day camps held Monday through Thursday, Aug. 4-7. Grades three through five will meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., then grades six through eight from 4-8 p.m.
Campers will have a chance to try improvisation, write a skit or story, compose a song, choreograph a dance and design an original canvas.
“Center Stage is one camp with four experiences,” said Wendy Gordy, Willowbrook’s creative arts director. “We are really looking forward to giving each of these kids a taste of the arts in a fun and phenomenal way with instructors who are excellent in their craft. Your kids will not be disappointed.
Instructors include professional actor Ann Lees, musician Chris Vang, artist Beth VanVleet and dance instructors from Maggie B’s Dance Studio in North Branch.
Elementary campers, who meet through the noon hour, will need to bring a lunch, and junior high campers need to bring a supper. Everyone should bring a shirt to paint in.
Each camper will go home with a camp T-shirt and his or her own created canvas.
The cost to participate is $50 per child, with a cap of $100 per family.
