Filing statements in the Forest Lake Times

The Forest Lake Times allows each candidate running for a local office one free filing statement announcing his or her candidacy.

The Forest Lake Times doesn’t solicit this announcement from the candidate; it’s up the candidate to submit their filing statement to the newspaper if they wish to do so.

The announcement needs to be 300 words or fewer and may include the candidate’s headshot photo. The filing statements will run in the next available edition after receipt. The Times reserves the right to edit filing statements. A candidate’s website, Facebook page, Twitter page and other social media sites cannot be included with their filing statements.

Candidates who have filed for mayoral, city council or township board seats in Forest Lake, Columbus, Linwood, Scandia and Wyoming, as well as candidates for ISD 831 School Board must submit their filing statement to the Times by noon Aug. 25, for final publication in the Aug. 28 edition. Filing statements will not be published after the Aug. 25 deadline unless as a paid advertisement.

Filing statements can be emailed to [email protected] or dropped off at 146 N. Lake Street, Suite 125, in Forest Lake.
