Floyd Holzschuh

Forest Lake Bus Driver Restaurant Owner WWII Navy Veteran

Floyd Holzschuh’s 90th Birthday Party

Sat. April 9, 1:00 to 4:00pm, American Legion Post 225 in Forest Lake.

Floyd drove a Forest Lake school bus for many years, and was one of the most popular bus drivers ever. At Christmas he would bring home several bags of goodies and gifts from the kids on his route.

He and his wife purchased Shraeder’s Cafe in November 1969, and operated it as Carol and Floyd’s Restaurant for the next several years. Later they operated Wagner’s Hamburgers Shop.

This summer Floyd and Carol will have been married 68 years. They have four children, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

During WWII, Floyd served in the Navy piloting landing craft that brought the Marines and Seabees ashore at Saipan, Iwo Jima, and Wake. They were preparing to invade the Japanese home islands when the war ended. Floyd was recalled to service during the Korean conflict.

Floyd is well known for his jokes and sharp wit—many of you have been on the receiving end of his comments. Stop by and pay him back for all that he has dished out over the years, or just stop by and say hello, wish him a Happy Birthday and remember times past. He’ll love it!
