Linwood seniors offer aging mastery program

Community Editor

The Linwood Senior Center will be offering a 10-week health and well-being package to residents 55 and over. The Aging Mastery Program was developed by the National Council on Aging. The NCOA awarded 13 grants in Minnesota to pilot this project and Linwood Senior Center is one of them.

The goal of this program is to empower older adults to make and maintain small but impactful changes. The classes will explore navigating longer lives, physical activity, sleep, healthy eating and hydration, financial fitness, medication management, advance planning, healthy relationships, falls prevention, and community engagement. For each of these classes, basic educational materials developed from highly trusted sources, a checklist of action steps, and a system for tracking behaviors will be provided. The 10-week course will run every Monday Sept. 19 to Nov. 21. Participants must register as the class is limited to 30.

There will be an informational meeting Sept. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the Linwood Senior Center, 22817 Typo Creek Drive, Stacy. Anyone interested in learning more about the program can call the senior center at 651-462-5565.
