Scandia’s Vinterfest to be held last weekend in January

Vinterfest 2017 will held Jan. 27 and 28. The Scandia Parks and Recreation Committee is sponsoring the annual community celebration. The official Vinterfest 2017 button can be found at area businesses, including the Scandia Cafe, Scandia Market and Mercantile, Meister’s Bar and Grill, Scandia Olde Towne Liquor, and Scandia Pizza for a $2 goodwill donation.

Corey Roberts of Roberts Family Funeral Home is the event organizer of the fourth annual “Scanley Cup” adult hockey tournament to raise money for the Scandia skating rink. The hockey tournament will run both days. The Scandia-Marine Lions Club will be hosting a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Participants are encouraged to bring any supplies for the snow sculpture contest that runs from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Register in the Community Center by 10:30 a.m. There will be cash prizes and medals for first, second, and third place for each of the two divisions.

Once again, there will be performances by the Pleasant Valley Cloggers at 11 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. as well as sledding.
New to this year’s event is a Kubb Scramble Tournament on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Scandia T-Ball field. It is a scramble style tournament, so people will register as individuals at $10 per player. Every player under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult player.
