Community Editor

This year, the American Legion Post 225, Auxiliary, and Sons of the American Legion will again sponsor 11th grade students from the Forest Lake area to attend the Legion Boys and Girls state events. The boys attend MN Boys State for a week in June (11 to 17) at St John’s in Collegeville. The MN Girls State candidates attend the same week, but at Bethel University and at the Capitol in St Paul. Students learn about local and state government in a practical experiential training program.

Qualified junior boys and girls will exhibit the qualities of leadership, good character, scholarship, citizenship, and interest in Americanism.
The point of contact for Forest Lake High School is Mr. Stang, North Lakes Academy is Mr. Stewart, LILA is Mrs. Peterson, and ALC, homeschool and CLBS is Ron Miller (651-464-5549).

Each candidate should write a page or two highlighting their qualifications and interest due the morning of March 14. Interested parties should include a phone number and email so they can be contacted to set up a personal interview. The interviews will be held the evening of March 15.
