Lunch with a naturalist
11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 17 Wargo Nature Center
This free program is geared toward adults. Bring a lunch and chat with a naturalist about local history information.
Nature play: crazy critters
10 to 11:15 a.m. May 4 Wargo Nature Center
This event is for children ages two to five. Children will look at animal furs, find animal homes, do a craft, and read a story.
Homeschool programs
10 a.m. to noon or 1 to 3 p.m. April 20 Wargo Nature Center
Naturalists work with homeschoolers to provide quality environmental, recreational, and natural history programs
Bird walk
9 to 11 a.m. May 11 Wargo Nature Center
5 to 7 p.m. May 11 Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park
Join an experienced birder on a walk through one of Anoka County’s parks. Enjoy seeing or hearing 20 to 60 species of birds.
Rockin’ reptiles
1 to 2:15 p.m. April 15 Wargo Nature Center
Through hands-on activities, guests will learn all about snakes, turtles and lizards.
Intro to nature
1 to 3:30 p.m. April 29 Wargo Nature Center
Join a local photographer to learn some tips and tricks for taking great photos while out in nature.
Kids fishing clinic
9 a.m. to noon Wargo Nature Center Coon Rapids Regional Dam Park
The kids fishing clinic is a free event open to all children ages 5 and up. Children will learn about lure selection, casting, boat and water safety, fishing ethics, and more.
Wildflower and
phenology walks

Join naturalists for a leisurely wildflower walk around an Anoka County Park. Guests will see what is blooming, discuss strategies for flower and plant identification and observe other seasonal events in the park that show progression in nature over the summer.
Earth Day celebration
