A Craigslist offer of a tanning business for sale paved the way for Forest Lake’s newest beauty business at 1650 11th Ave. SW in the space formerly occupied by Golden Tones and Tan NV. Beauty and Bronze Spahhh is the brainchild of Christie Mix and Connie Nylund, who boast a combined experience of nearly 10 years in the eyelash extension indust
“We started looking for our own space last spring,” Nylund said. “We officially acquired this space in December and were open for business in February.”
The first month of operation featured Mix and Nylund along with Logan Opsahl and Jayme Wolkerstorfer, who rent space from the business owners. The four filled their schedules with eyelash extension appointments, and in March they launched the tanning side of the operation.
“We have a total of eight tanning beds,” Mix said. “We feature two high pressure beds, three medium pressure and three low pressure.”
The business also features a red light therapy bed that works well to reduce scars, stretch marks and wrinkles.
“To put it simply, red light therapy revitalizes your skin,” Nylund said.
Although the tanning is a good customer draw, the eyelash extensions are the bread and butter of Beauty and Bronze Spahhh, and business is currently good.
“For such a specific thing, the eyelash extensions are unbelievably popular,” Mix said. “The running joke is that I could work 80 hours a week with appointments if I wanted to.”
Beauty and Bronze Spahhh is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Every Saturday features half-price tanning, and during the month of May only, that offer also extends to Sundays.
The business will host an open house April 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with door prizes, food and drinks, and lash specials. The event will also feature vendors LulaRoe, Monat USA, Younique, and Thirty-One. Beauty and Bronze Spahhh can be contacted by phone at 651-300-4684 or on the web at goo.gl/3qfnsr.
