Forest Lake junior Quinn Massey finished 83rd in the Class AAA boys golf championship at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids June 13-14.
Massey struggled on the West nine in the first round, carding 47, before finding a rhythm on the East nine (42) to finish the round at 89.
On day two, Massey improved his West score to 41 and shot 42 again on the East, to come home with a grand total of 172 strokes.
Massey qualified for the state tournament by winning a playoff hole at the Section 7AAA championships. He was one of the top golfers in the Suburban East Conference and was named to the all-conference squad.
Massey will be one of three varsity returners when the Rangers hit the links again in 2018.
Wayzata senior Van Holmgren won the individual championship with 143 strokes, and also led his Trojan squad to the team title (591).
