Dr. Steve Massey’s move from Forest Lake Area High School principal to District Superintendent (effective July 1) has paved the way for a series of administrative changes in five Forest Lake school buildings. Buildings affected include the Forest Lake Area High School, Linwood Elementary, Lino Lakes Elementary, Century Junior High, and Southwest Junior High.
“There were many difficult decisions to be made,” current Superintendent Linda Madsen said in a press release. “We are fortunate to have a strong group of school administrators in our district, and our first priority is always to ensure that each of our administrators is a good fit for the building they lead. Every school is different, and I am confident that, moving forward, this team of administrators will do a tremendous job in their respective roles, whether they are remaining at their current buildings or moving on to new challenges.”
Replacing Massey at the high school will be Linwood Elementary Principal Jim Caldwell. Caldwell previously served as both a dean and an assistant principal at the high school before taking the position at Linwood in 2014. The Linwood vacancy will be filled by Century Junior High assistant principal Joe Mueller.
Current Century Junior High School principal J.P. Jacobson will become the principal of both Century and Southwest Junior High School for the 2017-18 school year. For the 2018-19 school year, those two building will combine to become one building for all district students in grades 7 and 8. Jacobson will be joined by current Lino Lakes Elementary principal Ron Burris, who will transition to junior high school assistant principal. Southweest Junior High School principal Scott Geary will become the principal at Lino Lakes Elementary.
All other principals and assistant principals in the district will remain in their current positions for the foreseeable future. A simple breakdown of the changes can be found below.
