Special worship
J.D. Steele will perform and lead congregational singing during the 9 a.m. worship service at Faith Lutheran Church, 886 North Shore Drive, Aug. 27. Performing with his siblings as part of the vocal group The Steeles, J.D. has received major music awards, toured around the world, and performed on Broadway. He has also produced, performed, and recorded albums with The Steeles and major artists including Prince and The Sounds of Blackness. J.D. is currently the director of the MacPhail Community Youth Choir and has also developed a choral group of 200 street kids at an orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya, called Shangilia.
Free corn feed
The season finale of Arts in the Park Forest Lake on Aug. 29 will feature a free corn feed sponsored by the Parks, Lakes, and Trails Commission. The event will feature live music performed by the Rockin’ Hollywoods. Corn will be served at 5:30 p.m. with music beginning at 6.
Financial peace
Faith Lutheran Church, 886 North Shore Dr. will host Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University beginning Sept. 7 at 6:30 p.m. The nine-week money management class can help guests become debt free, save for financial emergencies, and confidently plan for retirement.
Class reunion
The Forest Lake Area High School class of 1961 will host a reunion at the Cornerstone restaurant in Wyoming Sept. 21 beginning at 11 a.m. All classmates and teachers are welcome.
Free senior dinner
The Forest Lake Lions will host a free dinner for seniors age 65 and older at the Forest Lake American Legion Post 225 Sept. 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. Questions can be directed to Sue Griffin at 651-429-1451.
