Having a choice to shop where they want, combined with keeping jobs in
the community, were the two main reasons cited by residents who support
allowing temporary seasonal sales in Forest Lake.
Many spoke during the public forum at Monday’s regular meeting of the
Forest Lake City Council. And they far out numbered those who favor
banning or restricting temporary retail facilities, such as Linder’s
Flower Mart.

Shoppers who have relied on Marketplace Foods in Forest Lake for their groceries will soon need to make other plans.
Come Thursday, Feb. 18, Marketplace Foods, 935 S. Lake St., will close.
That word comes from Keith Johanneson who heads the
Bemidji-based company that has owned the store since 1987. The store earlier reported that it would close on Feb. 28.
