The clinic at the Forest Lake business is for women of all ages who want to learn the secrets of auto repair and how protect themselves from possible rip-off artists. It is also an opportunity to gain hands-on knowledge of how cars operate. Shop owner Jim Rice will offer the free car care clinic from 9 a.m. to noon. Coffee, bagels and muffins will be served. Are you like many with boxes upon boxes of old tax records and bank statements? Not sure how to dispose of them? Jerry Hendrickson of Security-Victor Insurance Agency, 5357 Wyoming Trail, Wyoming, has the answer. The agency is sponsoring a free shredding event from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, April 19. “This is a great opportunity to get rid of old tax records and empty file cabinets of sensitive documents,” Hendrickson said. Area residents may bring their documents to the Security-Victor parking lot for document destruction. Items will be shred as you watch. Free coffee and rolls will be served. As a special community service, the agency will also donate $10 to Community Helping Hand in Forest Lake for each bag or box of items shredded (up to $500). Further testimony in the contested annexation hearings came from public service and financial witnesses selected as experts by Wyoming, Chisago City, Stacy and Wyoming Township. Testimony came Tuesday through Friday.

Wyoming Township officials Roger Elmore and Mark Utecht got to tell their side of the cooperative merger talks on Friday during the annexation hearings in Wyoming before Administrative Law Judge Steve Mihalchick.
Elmore, chair of Wyoming Town Board, said the 2005 annexation was an “emotional time for residents; they felt they weren’t heard.” Residents also agreed for the need to move forward, he said

At 6 p.m. on Friday, April 11, the racing will finally begin at Running Aces Harness Park in Columbus.
Horses started arriving at the brand new facility (I-35 and HWY 97, Exit 129) on March 28, with time trials getting underway when the weather allows. Live races will take place every weekend, beginning April 11 - July 6.
Running Aces is a 5/8 mile state-of-the-art purpose-built harness racetrack. In addition, there will be a 50 table card room, with 25 poker tables and 25 tables for casino games, such as Player Pool 21 (Blackjack), Caribbean Stud Poker, Let it Ride and Pai Gow Poker.

Tire shop owner Reub Engler is gone. Movie theater owner Bob Drummond has passed. Insurance company owner Sharkey Anderson and grocery store owner Ray Houle are gone. So is drug store owner Tom Rolseth.
