his feet. Zvanovec, an 87-year-old World War II veteran, lost his north

more than 20 percent of children are not fully protected from
vaccine-preventable diseases. Compared to white children, black children are least likely to be fully
immunized – placing them at greater risk for a number of preventable
diseases.

The Washington County Board on Jan. 8 discussed senior housing projects proposed for Forest Lake as part of a public hearing on modifying county redevelopment plans to make it easier to finance the projects. The two projects proposed are TrailSide Senior Living and the Walker Methodist project known as Forest Bay Lodge. The goal of the TrailSide Senior Living complex is to provide 70 units of affordable housing while Forest Bay Lodge would provide market rate senior housing along with some memory care facilities. Both would be located within the Headwaters development near the new Washington County Headwaters Service Center - Forest Lake and Hardwood Creek Library. The Washington County Housing and Redevelopment Authority asked the board to expand the focus area for affordable housing, which had been established in 2005, to include the area in question. They then propose creating a tax increment financing district covering the project area. Commissioners continued the hearing until the board’s Feb. 5 meeting, at which time they will take formal action on the proposal.
