THIRD IS THE WORD: Following up on last year’s second-place finish at state, the Forest Lake golf team regrouped from a difficult opening round to take third place in 2008. From left, Doug Jeans, Jeremy Tetrault, Andrew Kelly, John Young, Paul Moberg, Peter Follese, and head coach John Buck.
As it turned out, improved play and lower scores on the second day of the boys state golf tournament weren’t enough for Forest Lake to climb out of the 10-stroke hole it created on Day 1.

For the Forest Lake baseball team to get through the Section 7AAA playoffs last Tuesday in Cambridge, the Rangers had to defeat both Duluth Central and Duluth East in the same afternoon, but it proved to be one Duluth too many.
WIN SOME, LOSE SOME: After Forest Lake and starter Matt Zidar defeated Duluth Central in last Tuesday’s early game, the Rangers were knocked out of the playoffs by Duluth East, 5-0.

High School Rodeo this weekend
The 2008 High School Rodeo state finals will run from Friday, June 13 through Sunday, June 15, at Dead Broke Arena, between Forest Lake and Hugo at HWY 61 and County Road 4. Friday and Saturday night begin at 7 p.m.; Sunday at 1 p.m.
Free cowboy hats for the first 100 children, free pony and hay rides, and a free bandana for dad on Father’s Day.
