Wrestlers find more ‘energy’

Providing a prime example of what’s to come next winter, the Forest Lake wrestling team is sending five of its members to this week’s state tournament, and all but senior Brent Kolbow will be  returning in 2008-09.

Section play begins at home

Forest Lake was already locked into a No. 2 seed for Thursday’s Section 7AAAA playoff game, but it would probably feel better for the girls basketball team if it was hosting Blaine on a four-game winning streak, instead of the last-second loss the Rangers suffered at Stillwater.

Swimmers’ send 4 to state

It turns out Anoka’s swimming and diving Section 7AA True Team championship in January was no fluke.200relay.jpg

In that contest, the Tornadoes edge Forest Lake, as the Rangers had to settle for second place. At last weekend’s section meet, the Tornadoes replaced Forest Lake as the top program in 7AA, finishing with 322 points, while the Rangers came in fourth with 245 points.

Not so grand — boys hockey season ends in Grand Rapids

moberggoalie.jpgFor the second straight year, the boys hockey team ventured off to Grand Rapids to open the section playoffs, only to go leave IRA Civic Center with a season-ending loss.

10th annual FLHS Percussion Festival
