The Ranger alpine ski teams kicked off their season on Friday, Dec. 21 at the Wild Mountain Invitational. With 28 boys teams and 25 girls teams competing, this is the second biggest high school ski race in Minnesota.
WILD BEGINNING: Senior co-captain Brett Stolberg laid down two solid runs to place 35th of 168 boys in the season’s first contest.

Boys basketball team pancake breakfast at Applebee's, Jan. 19
The Forest Lake High School boys basketball team will host a pancake breakfast fundraiser at the Forest Lake Applebee’s on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 8 – 10 a.m. The cost $5 per ticket. Forest Lake’s Derek Harrison cruises in for a wrist shot that would land in the right corner for a goal, in the boys hockey team’s 7-2 win over Como Park in the Lake Area Holiday Hockey Tournament. The Rangers would wind up in second place, after falling to Mounds View, 3-2, in overtime of the championship game.

The Forest Lake girls basketball team made it to the finals of the Rogers Holiday Tournament, before falling to the host Royals, 54-44.

The Forest Lake girls hockey team came in sixth place in the Red
Division at the Schwan Cup Tournament last weekend. Goalie Kim Fredrick
and teammates like Ashley Grell (25) lost to Minnetonka and Silver Bay, but beat Orono by
the score of 4-2.
Three days after Forest Lake lost to the defending state champion and No. 1 ranked Stillwater Ponies, the girls hockey team hosted Cretin-Derham Hall on Dec. 18, with a strong notion of ending its five-game winless streak.

Girls finish in 3rd place
There was a Nordic ski meet last week in the Suburban East Conference, which means the Forest Lake boys added yet another victory to its ever-growing win total.

New season shows promise of young, athletic squad
Just for the heck of it, imagine the boys basketball team maintains its very early season pace of being undefeated at home and picking up splits on the road. It’s only four games into the schedule, but that pattern would give Forest Lake an 18-5 record.
