Karl R. Benson

Karl R. Benson, 87, Forest Lake, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008.

A funeral service was  Monday, Jan. 28 at Forest Hills United  Methodist Church, Forest Lake, with  interment at  Rutherford  Cemetery, Stillwater. Memorials may be directed to the church.

He is survived by his wife Grace; children, Darlene (Roger) Mooney, Darrell (Julianne) Benson, Kevin Benson; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Gerald (Kathleen) Benson; sister-in-law Elsie Benson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Rilla (Powell) Benson; wives, Lois and Margaret.

 
Stanley M. Bernt

Stanley Max Bernt, 85, Wyoming, formerly of Osceola, NE, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 1 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 31 at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Schuyler, NE, in the spring. Memorials may be made to donor’s choice.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gloria; children, Margaret (John) Jensen, Daniel (Marti) Bernt, Jane (Wayne) Korf, Tracy (Denny) Wilson, Tom (Mary) Bernt, Philip (Julia) Bernt, Christopher Bernt; one sister, Rita; 23 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and sisters Blanche, Grace and Alice.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jeremy and Jeffrey; brother, Eugene; and sister, Betty.

Bernt was an Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific from 1943 to 1946.

 
Eunice I. Goss

Eunice Irene Goss, 89, North Branch, formerly of Forest Lake, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008.

A funeral service was Saturday, Jan. 26 at Chisago Lakes Baptist Church with interment at Scandinavian Cemetery, Forest Lake.

She is survived by children,  Alice Albrecht, Forest Lake, Judy (Roy) Fuller, Apple Valley, David (Sue), Camas, WA, Ruth (David) Mickelson, Chisago City, Paul (Sandy), Lino Lakes, Lois (Craig) McEathron, Lindstrom, Becky (Kevin) Moen, North Branch and Daniel (Sharon), Blaine; 26 grandchildren and 26 great-granchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Doris Eiken, Duluth.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clark.

 
Norma Harper

Norma (nee Schmuck) Harper, 92, Forest Lake, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 at her home in Forest Lake.

A memorial service will take place in the spring.

She is survived by her sons, Irvin Harper, Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Douglas (Suzan) Harper, Pittsburgh, PA, and Todd (Lynn) Harper, St. Paul; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisterElida Knoll, Joan Harrington and Marcelle Schulte; and one brother, Irvin Schmuck.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, William Bremer in 1944 and Herbert Harper in 2000.

 
Alfred R. Haupt

Alfred R. Haupt, 91, Forest Lake, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5, St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake.  A gathering of family and friends will take place 9-10 a.m., prior to the Mass at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake.

He is survived by his children, Jack, George, Judy (Jim) Perkins; daughter-in-law Ronnie; step-daughters, Marlene Lowen, Shirley Kolden;  sister Ruth Alberts; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise and brother Don.

 
Merriam Nicklason

Merriam Nicklason, 76, Forest Lake, formerly of Scandia, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008.

funeral service was Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Mattson Funeral Home, Forest Lake, followed by a private family burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.

She is survived by her children, Gail Nicklason (Carl Peikert Jr.), William Nicklason (Cathy Beil), and Leland Nicklason; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, John (Sharon) Larson; sisters, Genevieve (Wayne) Bakke, Judy Mertz  (Jim) Britz; many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rueben (Anna) Larson and husband Oscar in May of 2007.

 
Ralph Reeve

Ralph Reeve, 77, Stillwater, formerly of Scandia, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008.

A funeral service was Thursday, Jan. 24 at Simonet Funeral Home, Stillwater.

He is survived by his wife, Ulla; one son, Patrick; one grandchild; 2 sisters, Laurabel Murray and Marj Youth.

 
John D. Spjut

John D. Spjut, 79, Scandia, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008.

A funeral service was Saturday, Jan. 26 at Mattson Funeral Home, Forest Lake, with interment at Oakland Cemetery, Marine on St. Croix. Memorials are preferred to the family.

He is survived by children, Shawn Spjut, Pam (David) Reyes, Mickey (Cheryl) Worden, Robert Worden, Judy (Lyle) Nelson, Joan (Murray) Day; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; one sister, Verlie Staberg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Spjut.
